Community & Education
The museums service is committed to providing an exciting,
hands-on experience that is both relevant to the National
Curriculum and popular schemes of work for History and Art.
Activities and supporting materials for all key stages can be
tailor-made to meet teachers' requirements. Teachers have the
option to lead sessions themselves or may choose to use the
Education officer for which a small charge is made.
If you are visiting the museum for information and
require photocopying services, charges are 5p per copy of A4
and 10p per copy of A3 information.
Information Packs & Worksheets
Dedicated worksheets and information packs containing teacher's
guidance notes are being developed in order to provide additional
support and structure to pupils' visits to museum collections and
sites within our care.
Outreach
A limited collection of objects based on domestic themes is
available for loan to schools and community groups. However, users
are strongly encouraged to book a workshop session with the
Museum's Education Officer who will bring a number of objects on a
chosen topic or theme to the school or community premises and then
lead or support object handling workshop sessions in co-operation
with teachers/ organisers. In this way, both specialist support and
a wider range of objects may be made available to you.
Additional Facilities
A café and toilets are available at the Castle. A room can also
be made available for the eating of packed lunches at the Castle
providing this is requested at time of booking.
Charges
£20 One led session with no limit on the number of children you
