Conference Rooms
Cyfarthfa Castle has two rooms
available for hire, although the larger room is only available in
the evenings. The rooms may be used for meetings, seminars and
conferences, comfortably seating up to 70 delegates. The Tearoom is
able to provide tea/coffee and buffet lunches for these
meetings.
Crawshay Office
Popular for meetings/seminars and licensed
for civil weddings, this room seats up to 45 people, and catering
can be provided in this room.
Yellow Room
This room seats up to 70 people
comfortably, and is therefore suitable for larger groups. Catering
for meetings held in this room will be undertaken in the Crawshay
Office.
In the interest of the general public it
is not possible to use any other part of the museum during opening
hours.
Equipment/Facilities
The museum can provide a slide projector
and/or overhead projector, a screen, a lectern stand, TV and video,
P.A. system, and a flip chart board. You are expected to provide
your own pens/flipcharts/acetates etc.
Exhibits Stands / Welcome Table
If exhibition stands are to be used as
part of your event, then in the interest of museum visitors, they
can only be placed in the hired rooms. A welcome table with
information/name badges may be placed in the entrance hall of the
museum for the arrival of delegates, or in the meeting room if
preferred.
Weekend conferences are not possible due to the high number of
visits to the museum by the general public.
How to Make a Booking
1. E-mail museum@merthyr.gov.uk
or
2. Telephone
the Museum on 01685 727371 to check the availability. When the
date/times have been agreed, museum staff will pencil you into the
bookings diary, and send you a booking enquiry form. This should
then be signed and sent back to the museum to ensure that all the
details are correct, and to confirm your interest in booking the
facilities.
3. Once the
Museum has received your completed enquiry form you will receive
confirmation of booking authorised by a museums officer. This will
outline the final details including price etc, and is your
assurance that the booking is exactly as requested.
Evening Functions
(including concerts/presentations/lectures)
The details listed above also apply for
evening bookings. The maximum number of people allowed in the
Yellow Room for entertainment is 70. This number includes
performers and any staff on duty in the room. To make a booking
please follow the procedure outlined above.
There is an additional charge for hiring the museum for out of
hours use.
