Group Visits
Opening Times
April-September: Saturday & Sunday.
2pm-5pm.
October-March: Open by appointment only. Please
note there will be a £1 per head charge for opening out of
hours. Contact Cyfarthfa Castle Museum on 01685
727371 to make an appointment.
Toilets
As Joseph Parry's Cottage only has one toilet, we do not
recommend that it is used as a 'toilet stop' for groups.
Alternative facilities are available in Cyfarthfa Castle and in
Cyfarthfa Park.
Facilities for the Disabled
At Joseph Parry's Cottage the ground floor is accessible to
disabled users. The toilet is small and has not been adapted for
disabled use. There are large print guides available, and
information is given verbally by a guide for the visually
impaired.
The Museums service has a disability and access policy which
aims to address the needs of the disabled. Any comments on the
facilities provided are welcomed, and can be made in writing or by
telephone on 01685 727371 or by e-mail museum@merthyr.gov.uk
Parking
Free coach parking is available at Joseph Parry's cottage.
Directions are provided on receipt of your booking.
Charges - Guided Tours and Talks
Admission during normal opening hours is free.
Guided tours (for groups of less than 25) or seated illustrated
talks (for groups of 25 plus) can be provided at a fee.
Visits can be arranged at times when the museum is closed but a
fee to cover staffing, lighting etc. is charged of £1 per
person. We need 7 days notice of an out of hours visit
(please contact us for details).
Participation in 'special events' may also be charged.
Booking
Please contact Cyfarthfa Museum by telephone/fax (01685 727371)
to make your booking. Confirmation will then be sent to you.
Alternatively e-mail museum@merthyr.gov.uk.
