For the adventurous, active or general plodders amongst you, you’ll be spoilt for choice with both challenging and gentle routes. Within Merthyr Tydfil itself, there are a variety of heritage trails, which highlight the area’s historic sites and places of interest. These range in length and terrain to suit all needs and abilities.

Wales Valleys Walking Festival

This year’s Wales Valleys Walking Festival has been launched and its bigger and better with over 40 guided walks spread over 2 weeks beginning 5th September 2008.

This year the Festival has grown again to include walks not just in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil but in Torfaen, Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent as well making the festival a truly Valleys-wide event.
