Let's Walk Cymru is a new Wales-wide initiative developed in partnership with the Sports Council for Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and Countryside Council for Wales - tasked with increasing the number of people participating in walking as a regular activity.

Why?

Merthyr Tydfil is a town with a fascinating industrial history, beautiful local scenery, ideally placed between Brecon Beacons National Park and the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

Where?

Regular Walking Groups meet weekly in Merthyr Tydfil, at various locations, enjoying walks such as:

  • The Taff Trail
  • Trevithick Trail
  • Cwm Taff Fechan
  • Taff Fechan Trail
  • Taff Bargoed
  • Cyfarthfa Park
  • The Heritage Trails#

Does it cost anything?

No, it is completely FREE to join a walking group.

When?

Details of when the walks take place can be found by contracting your local Walking Coordinator or visiting the Let's Walk Cymru Website.

How do I join?

Just go along to the location at the time provided and you will be met with a "warm welcome" from the Walk Leaders and other walkers.

What's needed needed to go on a walk?

Appropriate comfy footwear and a waterproof jacket!

Ability to walk?

Walks are set at a pace and distance varied to suit your "individual" ability.
