What is VRP?
Valleys Regional Park is an environmental vision for the Valleys, developed and delivered through a growing partnership of local authorities, government agencies, local health boards, charitable trusts, and voluntary organisations, working closely with private enterprise and local communities.
Where is VRP?
Geographically, the Valleys Regional Park covers the footprint of the former South Wales coalfield, extending from Carmarthenshire in the west to Pontypool in the east and bordering the Brecon Beacons National Park to the north. The region is home to nearly a third of the Welsh population.
Discovery Gateways
This work is initially centred around twelve iconic sites across the Valleys to highlight and maximise the extraordinary potential of the Valleys landscape with its unique natural and cultural heritage. Cyfarthfa Park is one of the sites that makes up the network of Discovery Gateways. Below is a map showing all twelve sites and a link to the Valleys Regional Park website for further information.
