About Shakespearean Children’s Festival 2023 celebrating World Book Day
Shakespearean Children’s Festival 2023 celebrating World Book Day.
Thursday 20th April 2023 at 9am – 3pm
Merthyr Tydfil will host a Shakespearean Children’s Festival celebrating World Book Day.
The Festival will come alive with flash mobs, living statues, acts, music, and fairground rides.
9.30 am - a parade of over 2000 children will see the town come alive with Shakespearean characters.
10.00 am - the opening ceremony at St David’s Church, Merthyr Tydfil CF47 8AF.
The whole ethos of the Festival is to inspire young people to read and write, as this year the event theme is "Shakespeare: Past, present and future".
Throughout the day there will be 200 Workshops found at over 21 venues all across our beautiful borough.
You can also check out the goodies at the Merthyr Artisan Market who are proudly supporting the day.
The event, now in its 7th year, is organised by Dowlais Community Centre - run by The Stephens & George Charitable Trust in partnership with Merthyr Tydfil CBC.
